Frequently Asked Questions
- How old do you have to be to get tattooed?
18 unless accompanied by your legal guardian, the state also requires a notarized consent form which we can provide for you and we have a notary on call. MAKE SURE YOU AND THE PARENT HAVE STATE ISSUED IDS OR ONE WITH A PICTURE AND BIRTH DATE ON IT.
- How old do you have to be to get a piercing?
Same as above.
- Do we charge for drawing a picture?
Drawing is what we do, the price for a custom tattoo does not change unless it is something like a sleeve or something, but most of the time the drawing is part of the price of what the tattoo is going to look like and the size.
- Is it ok to drink alcohol before a tattoo or piercing?NOT recommended because you will most likely bleed more and will probably not sit as still as you should. Suggestion is get a good night sleep, eat a good meal, and hydrate your body, then come get a tattoo or piercing.
- Can I go in the sun with my new tattoo?
Not recommended, but for all you tourists and sun bathers there is a solution. At our local pharmacy they sell “water proof non-stick bandages that can cover a new tattoo for a brief period of time and they will not harm your tattoo if you only use them for 30 min. or so.
But our recommendation is to get your tattoo at the end of your holiday or vacation.
- Can I go in the ocean?
Fresh tattoo – answer is no. Fresh piercing - answer is yes because salt water helps heal the piercing but it is recommended that you rinse it with fresh water after getting out of the salt water.
- Can I go in a swimming pool?
NO, chlorine is not good for any thing fresh whether it be a tattoo or a piercing.
- Does getting a tattoo hurt?
NO not really, but it does depend on the location you will be getting the tattoo at. Some areas are more sensitive than others due to nerve ends in your body. The MYTH of being skinny or fat or on the bone is not true. Your body is like no other so it may feel less sensitive to you on your arm but your friend may feel it more in the same place. Everyone has heard the stories of how bad it hurts on the ankle or lower back on a female right? So why is it that 90% of all females get tattooed there? Answer, because it really does not hurt that bad there.
- Do you numb or can you numb the area for a tattoo or piercing?
Yes we can numb the area with a topical anesthetic cream, which there is a $30 fee per application for a tattoo. As far as piercing, YES we do have a quick contact spray, which there is a $15 application fee for.
